Nadal passes Federer, Zverev edges through in Montreal

The defending champion of the Rogers Cup cruised to a 6-3 6-4 win over Pella as he recorded his 379th win at ATP Masters 1000 level, in the process going past the Swiss legend's tally of 378 wins.

RAFAEL NADAL says his serve got him out of trouble as he survived a scare from Fabio Fognini to reach the Rogers Cup semi-finals.

Nadal, who won this event for the fourth time previous year, battled through the wind and broke Pella's service four times in the triumph.

"We haven't played since NY, which was a really good match for her", said Williams, adding that she feels her own game is coming on as she'd hoped in the buildup to this year's US Open at Flushing Meadows.

Nadal will now lock horns with Italy's Fabio Fognini for a place in the semi-final of the match. "And I'm just overall a little bit better". "If I had the chance to have the legs that I had in that 2005, probably would be a very, very good player, no?"

Monfils and Bautista Agut both won in straight sets, with the former overcoming Poland's Hubert Hurkacz 6-4, 6-0 and the latter beating France's Richard Gasquet 7-5, 7-5. He won 16 of the first 17 points of the second set against the fading Austrian.

With the rain unrelenting, officials made a decision to cancel play for the day which means Monfils and Bautista Agut face playing two matches in one day to make the final. "It gave me a lot of confidence, so I'm very happy".

Amnesty International issues travel warning for the U.S.
The group advises avoiding places where large crowds gather such as cultural events, places of worship, and shopping malls.

"He didn't play his best, of course", Khachanov said.

Monfils leads 3-1 on head to head against Bautista-Agut but here's the deal - the Spaniard's brilliant form.

Earlier on Friday, the eighth-seeded Medvedev needed just under 57 minutes to finish off Thiem, the No. 2 seed from Austria.

Elsewhere, third seed Karolína Plíšková of Czech Republic beat Estonia's Anett Kontaveit 6-3, 7-5 to set up a quarter-final meeting with Canada's Bianca Andreescu, who defeated The Netherlands' Kiki Bertens 6-1, 6-7, 6-4.

"I played a great game in the second [set] and he had a bad game in the second game".

Third seed Alexander Zverev of Germany will face Khachanov in the quarters after a 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (5) win over Georgia's Nikoloz Basilashvili. I think he's one of the guys with the most wins, playing unbelievable, solid tennis every week.
