'Review your decisions': India warns Pakistan after latter decides to downgrade relations

Describing India's latest steps in Kashmir as an internal matter, the statement urged Pakistan to review its decision so that normal diplomatic channels are preserved.

PM Khan, in his address to the Parliament, stated that by repealing Article 370 and denying the Indian Occupied Kashmir citizens their right of autonomy under the Constitution, India violated the bilateral Simla Agreement; and, with its already poor record of responding to any diplomatic exchanges initiated by Pakistan, could not be relied upon for any further negotiation or bilateral talks.

The External Affairs Ministry said it was not surprised by Pakistan because Islamabad "has used such sentiments to justify its cross-border terrorism".

India stripped Kashmir of its special status in the constitution on Monday and brought the region under its direct rule, angering Pakistan which has a competing claim to the Muslim-majority state.
