Fossil announes new Gen 5 Touchscreen Smartwatch

The new Fossil Group Gen 5 models are available now from Fossil brand, with the hybrid smartwatches to debut this fall/holiday season from three other to-be-named Fossil Group brands.

"We're closely aligned with our partners at Google to ensure we're constantly iterating within the Wear OS by Google platform to deliver the most desired smartwatch features and benefits", said Greg McKelvey, Fossil Group Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.

Extended Battery Life: An exclusive app offers one-swipe access to four battery modes - Daily, Extended, Time-only and Custom.

Fossil is betting this generation's success on its proprietary battery modes that aim to give you more control over how your watch functions in line with how long you can go between charges. Apart from the bumped up specs, the smartwatch now comes with better support for iPhone users.

As it pertains to battery life, Fossil says users can charge a Gen 5 smartwatch up to 80 percent in one hour via rapid charging. Inside, the new watch offers 8GB of storage and 1GB RAM, which should help you increase your media library if you don't like to use streaming services. The Fossil's new Smartwatch will let the tethered iPhone users take calls. This is cool, but it'll take more than that to tempt an iPhone owner to buy a Wear OS watch when they can buy an Apple Watch that, you know, just works. For example, you can check your progress towards your fitness goals, check you calendar or the weather, check your heart rate, or quickly set a timer. You can also hear sound alert notifications and play third-party music. In this generation, you will get double the RAM.

Trump issues rare condemnation of white supremacy, racism after shootings
In Texas , where 22 were killed, authorities said the accused shooter drove almost 10 hours from his home in a Dallas suburb. On Saturday, 20 people died in a mass shooting in a Walmart in El Paso, Texas . "The FBI and Law Enforcement has arrived".

The Carlyle HR and Juliana HR are both 44mm watches that are 12mm thick with 1.28-inch OLED displays.

Users can also track how health metrics compared to millions of other Cardiogram users for signs of undiagnosed diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension, and atrial fibrillation.

Google has yet to release a Wear OS smartwatch, despite acquiring technology from Fossil that includes an unreleased device.

Fossil is also touting the prowess of the built-in speaker on the Gen 5.

Another upgrade coming to the Gen 5 watches is a swim-proof speaker. (Technically 5 ATM is what you're looking for if you want to hop in the pool, but 3 ATM should be fine for showers, dishes, and other mostly wet activities.) For sensors, you get the usual suspects: NFC, heart rate, altimeter, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, microphone, and built-in Global Positioning System.
