David De Gea Wants To Become Manchester United Captain Next Season

A faulty tax machine prevented the Spaniard from joining Real Madrid a few years ago and despite the fact United won't be playing in the Champions League next season, De Gea isn't going anywhere.

In the aftermath of Manchester United's humiliating 4-0 defeat to Everton in April, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issued a public apology to the fans and promised that some of the players would soon leave the club.

Manchester United signed De Gea in a £17m deal from Atletico Madrid in the 2011 summer transfer window.

"Manchester United is in my DNA and this is a very proud moment for me as I take on this new role", said Butt.

"I know the fans were really hurt, but we as a team were very hurt".

United, who were sixth in the Premier League last season, hope it will help "create a seamless journey for young players stepping up to the next level".

"I've been through it and I know what new players and young players need", he said. The contract is to be signed once United return from their Asia Tour. He has stuck with the club through incredibly hard times in recent seasons, winning the club's Player of the Year award on an unprecedented four occasions, while he is one of the few that remain who know what it is like to be part of a Premier League title race.

"Things we didn't have last season".

"We have to improve a lot". However, Manchester United has stuck to its £150 million valuation of him.

He was previously earning around £240,000 weekly at Old Trafford.

That is enough to make De Gea the best paid goalkeeper on the planet, and he has also revealed his desire to become the club's new captain.

"Anthony can be a world class forward", said Solskjaer in Singapore after the friendly.

The King Power outfit made it clear they would not accept anything less than their £80m valuation for Maguire.
