Michelle Obama overtakes Angelina Jolie as world's most admired woman

On the men's list, Bill Gates continues his reign as the most admired in the world, followed by former president Barack Obama, Jackie Chan, Chinese leader Xi Jinping and billionaire businessman Jack Ma.

It was the first time in 17 years that someone other than Hillary Clinton was at the top of that list, according to Gallup.

YouGov's poll is conducted annually, and tests which famous men and women are most admired across the world.

She's followed by another Black queen, Oprah Winfrey, actress Angelina Jolie, Queen Elizabeth II and actress Emma Watson for spots two through five, and consists of 20 women total. Both Obamas top the list of most admired people in America. Why would Michelle Obama be more admired than, for instance, Oprah Winfrey, who has arguably done more to deserve admiration?

The list features 20 men and 20 women whom were selected after 42,000 people were polled in 41 countries. President Donald Trump is the second most admired man in the USA, and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is second most admired woman in the U.S.

On the YouGov list, a large number of women featured are from the entertainment industry with appearances by Madonna, Taylor Swift, Priyanka Chopra and Ellen DeGeneres.

For the list of males, many are business moguls and sports stars including Warren Buffet, Elon Musk, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. And in case you're curious how Michelle's counterpart Barack is ranking: this year, he was the #2 most admired man in the world, and the #1 most admired man in America.

In fact, the top five men remain unchanged since a year ago. Obama dethroned Angelina Jolie, who held the title in last year's poll.

Michelle Obama our Forever FLOTUS can now add another accolade to the already lengthy list she's accumulated over the course of her life.
