R. Kelly held in Chicago jail without bond on sex crime charges

Four days after being arrested for a slew of federal sex crime charges, R. Kelly will remain behind bars without bond for his case in Chicago.

Singer R. Kelly appeared before a federal court in Chicago shackled at the ankles and sporting an orange jumpsuit on Tuesday. The New York federal charges Kelly faces include racketeering, kidnapping and interstate transportation of victims for illegal sex acts.

In addition to the IL federal indictment, federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of NY unsealed a separate, five-count indictment of Kelly last Friday.

The hearing, which follows the singer being hit Friday with a total of 18 counts of serious sexual misconduct and other charges in Chicago and NY, was to determine whether Kelly should be released from custody the charges play out.

Prosecutors argued that Kelly is a flight risk and an "extreme danger to the community".

R. Kelly pled not guilty to all 13 counts and is accused of conspiracy for allegedly paying money to recover videos of himself having sex with underage girls.

"Unlike his most famous song - "I Believe I Can Fly" - Mr. Kelly doesn't like to fly."

Iran has said that it is not subject to European Union sanctions. "We must keep control of common sense", he said. Tensions have spiked since U.S.

Kelly, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was first arrested on sex-related charges in 2002 after a video of Kelly having sex with 14-year-old girl was sent to the Chicago Sun-Times. Kelly faces a combined 18 counts for alleged crimes against 10 victims.

"There's no evidence that he's a risk to minors at all", Greenberg said. The prosecutor added that Greenberg "never once mentioned Mr. Kelly's sexual interest in middle school kids".

Greenberg said his client is not guilty of the charges and looks forward to being vindicated in court.

Kelly is expected to eventually be extradited to NY to face charges there. A jury acquitted him of all charges when the case was finally tried in 2008.
