Atletico sign Trippier from Tottenham for €25m

The Spanish giants are paying a fee of €24m to land the England worldwide right-back from last season's Champions League finalists.

England global Kieran Trippier has left Tottenham to join Atletico Madrid, as confirmed by the club's official website.

Trippier has enjoyed a very positive 12 months or so.

The England global has been heavily linked with a move away from Spurs this summer, as a number of clubs from overseas circled the 28-year-old. His final appearance in a Spurs shirt came in the club's 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the Champions League Final.

However, Arsenal will also be pleased with their business as Saliba is a huge talent who should be a superb long-term replacement for Laurent Koscielny, once he eventually becomes an Arsenal player next summer.

Arsenal are set to beat Tottenham to the signing of young French defensive star William Saliba, according to reports from France.

Orbiting was originally used to describe the not-quite-ghosting practice of lurking on past dates' social media presences. Various profiles for the slain girl were visible on social sites, and the hashtag #ripbianca appeared on memorial posts.

Trippier is the third defender to join Atletico in the close season after Brazilian pairing Felipe and Renan Lodi while reports in the Spanish media say Spain centre back Mario Hermoso is also set to sign for Diego Simeone's side.

Trippier, 28, put pen to paper on a three-year deal at the Wanda Metropolitana.

Trippier may not be the only full-back leaving Tottenham this summer.

The Gunners are also working on a deal to take the Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos on loan.

Spurs could be without Serge Aurier for the start of the Premier League season, as he picked up a hamstring injury while at the African Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast.
