Celtic respond to Arsenal’s new bid for Kieran Tierney

Arsenal are poised to make a third attempt to prise Kieran Tierney away from Celtic this week as the London club face increasing unrest among their supporters over their transfer activity.

If Tierney does indeed sign for the English giants he would hope to emulate fellow Scot, and another left back, Andy Robertson who has performed admirably for Liverpool, culminating in a Champions League win at the end of last season.

Tierney is extremely highly rated.

The 22-year-old is naturally a left-back but he can also play as a centre-back or further up on the left-hand side.

The Bhoys, on the other hand, have spent a whopping €11.34 million already but they have only three players to show against that - with one of them arriving on a free transfer.

Deila can understand why the Scottish champions are eager to hold out for the best possible deal, with Tierney a player that boasts greater potential than a former Hoops star now starring for Liverpool on the back of a record-breaking £75m ($93m) transfer.

That has reportedly left boss Unai Emery with just £45 million to spend in the transfer window, on a team that clearly needs improving.

The Gunners have indentified the Scotland global left-back as a top target for the summer transfer window. Arsenal are seemingly not concerned by his fitness struggles, as they remain desperate to get this deal over the line as soon as possible.

However it was reported on the weekend that Spurs had offered the Ligue 1 side more money for the player and may hijack the bid. If the club and the player deem this the right time to move on then Celtic fans should applaud what Tierney has achieved while at Celtic.

Arsenal are now on tour in America and there is just 27 days until their Premier League season starts.
