She left the auto running with her 7-month-old and 1 and 5-year-olds still on the inside while she went to see their father, who works at the restaurant.

"The kids' father then pulled him out of the vehicle and beat Hood as other bystanders in the area joined the attack, according to investigators", NBC Philadelphia added. She left the auto running as she went inside, WPVI reports.

The children's father chased the vehicle down, and according to police he pulled the suspect from the auto and started attacking the man.

"They were able to pull this auto thief out of the vehicle". The parents ran behind the auto and finally managed to catch Hood when the vehicle got stuck in traffic. He only got about a half block away before dad ran him down again.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said police were told that 'other males in the area helped the boyfriend with this physical altercation'. He was taken to Temple University Hospital but was found to be dead.

Since the Australian Open, the encounter with Halep was the first time that Williams had faced a top 10 player in a Grand Slam. Williams may have kept Halep waiting to go on court but if she hoped that would upset her opponent it did quite the opposite.

The other men who jumped in the fight were not located.

The thief assaulted the father and fled, but a large crowd stopped the suspect and beat him, police said.

The mother and father were taken in for questioning and were said to be cooperating with police.

"I'm not a fan of street justice", Philadelphia Police Capt. Jason Smith said at a press conference Friday.

The police department's homicide unit and the District Attorney's Office will decide if the father will face charges.
