Man United very keen on signing 24-year-old

Solskjaer's side have no real reason to pay what the Portuguese club wants as it's understood Fernandes' release clause is £32m.

Lazio's sporting director Igli Tare has been having "ongoing contacts" with the Manchester club, whilst Milnikovic-Savic's agent, former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman, is expected to join the discussions shortly.

Manchester United are trying to land Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon to fortify their squad ahead of the next season, after facing an underwhelming season in the Premier league.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Lazio midfielder and long-term United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has reemerged as an alternative midfield option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

24-year-old Fernandes is one of the hottest properties on the summer transfer market, following a standout season in Portugal in which he scored 32 times and provided 18 assists in all competitions.

The so-called ticker tape parade is named for the long strands of ticker tape that used to be showered down from office buildings. Andrew Cuomo took the opportunity Wednesday to say women's soccer players should be paid the same as male players.

"But they're going to make Man United better".

City have already had a bid of €45million (£40m) for Fernandes rejected, with Sporting holding out for €70million (£63m). There's a lot of criticism around the players, sometimes it doesn't always go well."You work hard, you want to perform for the team, but some things go wrong, and these can be out of your control".

That's according to Kevin Kilbane, who believes City and Real have been linked with much higher calibre players in this summer's transfer window. We expect them to be a top one or two.

And there are suggestions that Fernandes' agent has an agreement in place with Manchester United over his contractual terms.

That report adds that while Sporting CP do need the money, they are reluctant to sell on the cheap after rivals Benfica got €120m for Joao Felix.
