Wimbledon Glance: Williams faces Riske in quarterfinals

World number one Ashleigh Barty's winning run came to an end in the fourth round of Wimbledon on Monday but Serena Williams continues to roll through the draw. However, she suffered in the third round as she edged past Su-Wei Hsieh in three sets 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.

"I haven't been starting out fantastic in all my matches", Riske said. I'm really most proud about that.

Barty, 23, began the match with four consecutive aces and took the first set decisively before Riske staged her comeback in the 1:38 match.

"So if she can repel Serena's first two shots, chiefly her serve, and get into a rally, Riske is likely to dictate like she did against Barty", O'Shannessy told AAP.

Ash Barty has opened up about that Disney obsession, which has the world talking, and claimed she would have a couple of beers after her first loss in months. When asked about her success over the past year, the player replied with Buzz Lightyear's famous catchphrase: "I chat to my niece".

"I try to do everything I can to win the tennis match".

"I think today in the crunch moments, she came up with her best tennis".

"The grass definitely brings out the best in me".

"I didn't win a tennis match".

Wimbledon 2019: Johanna Konta into quarter-finals after beating Petra Kvitova
The key moments came in the next game on Konta's serve, which she finally held after saving two break points. It was "small margins in the end", she told the BBC. "It's fine", she said.

Karolina Pliskova stunned by her compatriot, Karolina Muchova 6-4, 5-7, 13-11 in the round of 16 in Wimbledon Championships 2019 on Monday.

She broke in the fourth and eighth games of the second set and carved out the key break of the decider in the eighth game.

It is the first time that Riske, ranked 55th in the WTA rankings, has reached the quarter-final stage of a Grand Slam.

She had not managed to translate that to a standout Wimbledon run until this year, though, with her scalps also including Donna Vekic and Belinda Bencic.

Barty said she would have a few beers and then focus on her next target, the US Open in August.

Men's fourth round: No. 1 Novak Djokovic beat Ugo Humbert 6-3, 6-2, 6-3; No. 2 Roger Federer beat Matteo Berrettini 6-1, 6-2, 6-2; No. 3 Rafael Nadal beat Joao Sousa 6-2, 6-2, 6-2; No. 26 Guido Pella beat No. 15 Milos Raonic 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (3), 8-6.

Pliskova got back to 30-40 with her opponent slipping over on her second match point but Muchova got lucky at the third attempt as her forehand return clipped the tape and dropped dead.

And the final quarterfinal pairing will feature home-country favorite Johanna Konta, who eliminated two-time Wimbledon champion sixth-seeded Petra Kvitova 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
