Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp get restored after lengthy outage

People are reporting sign-in issues as well as trouble uploading and viewing images.

According to Sowetan Live, Facebook said that it was back at 100 percent Wednesday evening after an outage on all of its services affected users in various parts of the world.

"Everyone moves to twitter when instagram, Facebook, and Whatsapp get down, including me!" tweeted one Indian user.

"Wow cant believe Facebook has been down for this long, photos don't show up, videos aren't showing up or they disappear, you name it and its not working, From Rochester NY".

Photos, audio files and videos were not getting downloaded in Whatsapp.

Last March 13, the social media trio had the largest service outages in terms of numbers of report.

In apparently unrelated incidents, Twitter also suffered problems with its direct messaging service in the Eastern U.S. and Europe.

In a statement, Facebook confirmed that there was a problem with its apps, and it was "working as quickly as possible" to fix it.

According to Reuters who talked to Facebook representatives, "During one of our routine maintenance operations, we triggered an issue that is making it hard for some people to upload or send photos and videos", Facebook said.

Facebook says it has resolved an issue that caused its apps including Instagram, WhatsApp and Twitter to be down for several hours in a worldwide outage on Wednesday, The Daily Mail reported.

On Twitter, Facebook said it was aware of the situation and apologized for the inconvenience.

Hootsuite and We Are Social revealed that an average Filipino user spends 4 hours and 12 minutes on social media platforms. For products from the Facebook stable, this was the third major outage in this year. "Please try again.", were repeatedly shown to the users. "This was not an attack (as some have speculated) and we are incredibly sorry this occurred". Users are not able to use Facebook right now. Users experienced delays in sending and receiving messages.
