Former Giants Quarterback Anthony Wright Shot During Feud With Girlfriend's Ex-Partner

Wright was taken to a local hospital for emergency surgery, police said, where he was listed in stable condition.

According to the Concord (N.C.) Independent Tribune, Wright was shot after engaging in a verbal confrontation with his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend yesterday afternoon.

Witnesses told Concord Police investigators that Wright "got into a verbal altercation" with Hooker, who shares a daughter with Wright's girlfriend.

Police say they were called to a home Monday when an argument followed and shots were fired.

Authorities have issued a warrant for William "Willie" Moses Hooker Jr. for "assault with a deadly weapon Inflicting serious injury with intent to kill".

Wright played six seasons in the NFL.

He made five of his 19 career starts during his two-year stay in Dallas, with the rest coming as a member of the Baltimore Ravens (seven starts apiece in 2003 and 2005). Wright split time with Phil Petty his senior season, as the Gamecocks fell to 1-10.

Wright had been an National Football League quarterback from 2000-2007 playing for the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and the New York Giants - which is the team he played for when he won the Super Bowl in 2007, according to Bleacher Report. But that was enough to earn a Super Bowl ring after the Giants upset the New England Patriots, 17-14, in Super Bowl XLII. As of 2016, he was training young players in the Charlotte area.
