Cops release bodycam footage of actor Jussie Smollett in noose after ‘attack’

But the following month, Chicago Police arrested Smollett and charged him with disorderly conduct for filing a false police report, claiming the actor had paid two men $3,500 Dollars each to attack him.

Days after the alleged hate crime incident, Smollett was accused of staging his own attack by investigators. They claim that Smollett orchestrated a fake assault involving two men, who have seen their charges dropped.

The brothers would later tell police they were paid to go along with a staged attack on Jussie Smollett.

"I don't want to be filmed, so can you please turn it off?" he said.

Smollett's manager can be heard telling officers, "He doesn't want this to be a big deal, you understand what I'm saying".

As the hunt for the two men Smollett said attacked him continued for weeks, some in the city started to wonder if the whole thing was a hoax.

He said, "I look forward to the day when sanctions can be lifted and Iran can be a peace-loving nation". Later, Trump said the sanctions would have been imposed regardless of the incident over the drone.

The Empire actor claimed that two men beat him up, put a noose around his neck and poured bleach on him while he was walking alone at 2 am in the morning. The officers are asked to switch off their cameras shortly after. But those charges were later dropped.

He has since been sued by city officials for wasting police time and lost his role on Empire, with the show's creator, Lee Daniels, recently confirming the actor would not be part of the show's sixth and final season. The decision was heavily criticized by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson, and the Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association. That could open the door for Smollett to be charged again.

Smollett was later indicted by a grand jury on 16 counts of disorderly conduct for filing a police report.

In April, Jussie Smollett's legal team was sued for defamation by the Osundairo brothers - who said their reputations were damaged by the incident. Smollett's attorneys also face a lawsuit from the Osundairo brothers.

The case is now being re-examined with a special prosecutor assigned to it.
