Trump says Iran strikes would not have been 'proportionate'

The Iranian game is to rally European and Russian pressure on the USA, in parallel with military escalation against primary and secondary United States interests, in order to force Mr Trump to back down from his strategy of strangling Iran economically and into pursuing a military option.

The anchor of Trump's beloved TV channel reportedly convinced him that the "hawks" in the U.S. administration did not have the president's best interests at heart, and that if Trump unleashed a war on Tehran, he could kiss his chances of 2020 re-election goodbye. "In some cases we are going slowly, but in other cases we are moving rapidly".

Trump told reporters Saturday that American oil and gas production is so large that the U.S.no longer depends on the Strait of Hormuz for oil transport.

Iran's airforce commander claimed that a U.S. military plane carrying passengers was in sight near the drone but that he refrained from targeting it. "When they agree to that, they're going to have a wealthy country and I'm going to be their best friend".

Iran has renewed its threats against the United States on Saturday, saying that it will not permit its borders to be violated.

"Hopefully Iran is smart and cares about its people", he said, warning Tehran against any rash moves.

Iranian sources told Reuters that Trump had warned Iran via Oman that a US attack on Iran was imminent but had said he was against war and wanted talks.

Tension ran high Thursday in Washington as the president and his top military officials weighed options to retaliate against Iran, which said it shot down down the drone because it violated Iranian airspace.

Trump said USA sanctions on Iran have turned the country into an "economic mess".

President Donald Trump said Saturday he's still considering military action against Iran after it downed an unmanned USA military aircraft, saying the use of force is "always on the table until we get this solved".

Trump says the crowd was blessed to be gathered during "a truly exciting time in America, in American history".

The shootdown came with Iran already accused by Washington of carrying out attacks on tankers in the congested shipping lanes heading out of the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz.

The drone incident immediately heightened the crisis already gripping the wider region, which is rooted in Trump withdrawing the USA a year ago from Iran's 2015 nuclear deal and imposing crippling new sanctions on Tehran.

Trump insisted it is up to the Iranian leadership how the current crisis plays out. Switzerland looks after USA interests in Iran.

Moreover, a war on Iran would inevitably escalate the USA confrontation with China, which can not cede to U.S. imperialism a stranglehold over the oil resources of the Middle East that sustain its economy, and which sees Iran as a strategic link in its One Belt, One Road strategy to deepen the integration of Eurasia.

The sanctions followed Trump's 2018 decision to unilaterally abandon the 2015 deal between Iran and major powers under which Tehran curtailed its path to building a nuclear bomb in return for sanctions relief. "We have a tremendously powerful military force in that area".

Also, the USA blames Iran's military for the bombing of two oil tankers last week, and then Iran shot down the unmanned US drone on Wednesday.

Khomeini has the last say on all state matters and has ruled out any talks with Washington while Tehran is under sanctions.

Tensions have been escalating between the Iran and the USA after Mr Trump unilaterally pulled out of a 2015 nuclear deal aimed at curbing Iran's nuclear activities.
