Second woman accuses Cuba Gooding Jr. of groping: police source

According to police, Gooding, 51, touched a woman without her consent on Sunday night in Midtown Manhattan. He says there is video evidence to support his claim that nothing happened.

Gooding's attorney, Mark J. Heller, said he was "completely confident that (Gooding) will be totally exonerated".

After reviewing the security video, Heller said he was hesitant to let Gooding surrender but made a decision to go through with it.

When asked about the incident on Tuesday at Los Angeles airport by celebrity news outlet TMZ, Gooding denied the allegations and said "nothing" happened.

"I was at a club, I left, I met a bunch of people, said hello and took pictures and, you know, you have to have faith in what people say..."

"I trust the system and I'm going to let the process speak for itself".

Contenders need at least eight backers to make tomorrow's opening ballot - putting several of them at risk of being cut. He insisted he was the "serious" candidate to take over from Theresa May, and took a series of swipes at Boris Johnson.

Mr. Heller explained he has tried to contact the Manhattan District Attorney's Sex Crimes Unit, but is still waiting for a return phone call as he wants to know if they have seen the video.

That same year, he was also accused of pushing a female bartender in New Orleans and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

As for Sunday night, Gooding told TMZ that he was at Magic Hour partying with friends but didn't touch anyone. "That's the most important thing".

The bar, on the roof of the Moxy Hotel near Times Square, features a mini-golf course and sweeping views of the Empire State Building and other Big Apple landmarks.

Gooding's first major role came in the groundbreaking 1991 movie about life in the inner city, Boyz n the Hood.

Gooding was nominated for an Emmy Award past year for playing O.J. Simpson in the FX series "The People v. O.J. Simpson" and recently appeared on Broadway and London's West End as lawyer Billy Flynn in "Chicago".
