Hurricane season 2019 predictions: how bad will we get hit this year?

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released their outlook for the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season.

The 2019 Atlantic hurricane season - which lasts from June 1 to November 30 - is expected to have between nine and 15 named storms, which means they pack winds of 39 miles per hour (62 kilometers/hour) or higher, NOAA reported.

"Of those storms, five to seven are forecast to become hurricanes and two to four are forecast to become major hurricanes", AccuWeather said.

Even as the next hurricane season begins, several regions are still recovering from tropical cyclones that struck over the past two years.

NOAA says there's a 40% chance of a normal season, with 30% chances of stronger and weaker seasons. Hurricane activity previous year was slightly above historical averages with 15 named storms, and 2017 was among the top 10 most active Atlantic hurricane seasons on record, marked by the devastating Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. However, only two major hurricanes hit in 2018, but both made direct strikes on the United States, causing billions of dollars in damage and claiming dozens of lives.

As a result, he seems to acquire some “lady luck” which puts the brakes on his ability to spoil the games of others. The success of Ocean’s 11 has led to the development of a new spin-off, Oceans 8 which is due to be released in 2018.

The atmospheric and ocean conditions the scientists took into consideration provided "competing signals", acting NOAA administrator Neil Jacobs said at a news conference Thursday. NOAA provides these ranges with a 70% confidence.

An ongoing El Nino is expected to persist and suppress the overall intensity of the hurricane season, according to the NOAA. Do you have cash on hand?

A planned updated to the National Weather Service's Global Forecast System weather model - often called the American model - will also take place early in the 2019 hurricane season.

The 2019 Atlantic hurricane season hasn't started yet, but the World Meteorological Association already has a list of names for this year's tropical storms and hurricanes. The season produced 15 named storms, including eight hurricanes. Forecasters are calling this year's season near normal.
