Joe Biden holds first official presidential campaign rally in Philadelphia

"If the American people want a president to add to our division, to lead with a clenched fist, closed hand and a hard heart, to demonise the opponents and spew hatred - they don't need me", Mr Biden is expected to say.

Biden's remarks drew a swift response from the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, a liberal advocacy group that backs another candidate, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Since entering the race last month, Mr Biden, 76, has largely ignored the other 23 contenders in the Democratic field, instead training his fire on Mr Trump.

Democratic presidential candidate, former Vice President Joe Biden accompanied by his wife Jill waves during a campaign rally at Eakins Oval in Philadelphia, Saturday, May 18, 2019.

Even as some supporters encourage Biden to take the high road, the Democrat displayed a willingness for confrontation as he said the president "embraces dictators and tyrants like (Vladimir) Putin and Kim Jong-un". I believe it is only he who can put the United States back on the path of development. The president has already been raising money for his re-election and holding political rallies for many months. "That's what they are saying you have to do to win the Democratic nomination", Biden said Saturday.

"I don't believe it", he will tell the crowd, adding that he is running for president to offer Democrats and Republicans alike a "different path" towards unity.

However Mr Biden has opened up a more than 20-point lead over his nearest rival, Senator Bernie Sanders, in several public opinion polls.

It's not the Iron Throne, but the presidency is our closest equivalency and the creator of mega-hit TV show "Game of Thrones" has given his approval to Joe Biden's 2020 presidential campaign.

They had very few three-pointers to speak of; in other words, they were the opposite of what the NBA is supposed to be today. In fact, not only do they have deficiencies, but they do not even have the tools or resources to resolve those deficiencies.

"We don't need a Democratic nominee who rejects the fact that people are righteously angry in the Trump era", it said. But as is the case for Trump in many battleground states, his victory is not assured there in 2020 and he will likely face a fight to win it again.

"President Trump inherited that economy from the Obama-Biden Administration".

After Mr Biden leaves, Mr Trump will hold an event of his own on Monday in the northeast part of the state.

First elected as the US Senator from DE at the age of 29, Biden has almost five decades of public service including eight years as the Vice President from 2009-2016.

According to a poll released by Quinnipiac University this week, Biden leads Trump by 53 percent to 42 percent in Pennsylvania among registered voters.

The event was the culmination of a three-week campaign rollout that began and ended in Pennsylvania, home to Biden's campaign headquarters and where he was brought up. A spokeswoman later said Biden does not believe Trump is an illegitimate president.

"You will not hear me speak ill of another Democrat", Biden said.
