His Dark Materials teaser plunges HBO back into world of epic fantasy

If you didn't already know, the His Dark Materials Trilogy is one of the best series of books of the last two decades or so, and we really can't recommend enough that you give them a read. It follows Lyra Belacqua (Logan's Dafne Keen), a young girl who has an uncle (James McAvoy) that was nearly poisoned and gets upset when her friend randomly disappears, Polygon reported. Her search for a kidnapped friend uncovers a sinister plot involving stolen children, and becomes a quest to understand a mysterious phenomenon called Dust.

On her journey, Lyra Belacqua meets a wandering aviator (Lin Manuel Miranda), who has a giant hot air balloon, encounters fighting polar bears, and sees other daemons, creatures that are part of the human soul. Together, they encounter extraordinary beings and risky secrets, with the fate of both the living - and the dead - in their hands. Cast also includes Anne-Marie Duff, Clarke Peters, Ariyon Bakare, Will Keen, father of young lead Dafne Keen, Ian Gelder, Georgina Campbell, Lucian Msamati, James Cosmo, Ruta Gedmintas, Mat Fraser, Geoff Bell, Simon Manyonda as well as young actors Lewin Lloyd, Daniel Frogson and Tyler Howitt. Tom Hooper (The King's Speech), Otto Bathurst (Robin Hood), and Jamie Childs (Doctor Who) are just a few of the directors helping bring the show to life.

Macron and Ardern seek pledge to eliminate violent content online
Ardern said multiple edited and versions of the March 15 massacre quickly spread online, and the take down was slow. The text of the initiative outlines "collective, voluntary commitments" from governments and internet companies.

The His Dark Materials adaptation will be produced by Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner's Bad Wolf with New Line Cinema for BBC One. The first season consists of eight episodes and will premiere sometime later this year.
