Woman shot dead by U.S. police, seconds after yelling 'I'm pregnant'

Police said they could not confirm whether Turner was pregnant and that an autopsy will determine that.

The news release also states that as the officer attempted to handcuff the woman, she gained control of his taser and used it on the officer.

"The female was able to get the officer's Taser away from him", he said, according to KPRC.

"You're actually harassing me", she was heard yelling at the unidentified officer, telling him angrily, "I'm actually walking to my house". Dorris also confirmed to the station that she was not, in fact, pregnant. The woman is on the ground and appears to reach toward the officer, and then he fired five shots. The officer attempted to detain her, and a struggle ensued. At that time, she can be heard yelling out to the officer that she was simply walking home. The woman, identified as Pamela Turner, 44, allegedly had outstanding warrants which led the officer to try to arrest her.

The officer reportedly had a previous interaction with the woman, said Baytown, Tex., Police Lt. Steve Dorris, according to KHOU-TV. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Baytown Police Department and the Harris County District Attorney's Office are investigating the fatal shooting.
