Michigan's John Beilein leaving to coach Cleveland Cavaliers

The only difference is he's not a player as former Mountaineer men's basketball coach John Beilein was announced as the next head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers by general manager Koby Altman this morning.

The two sides came to terms on a five-year contract, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Cleveland will provide Beilein with his first crack at National Basketball Association success after the 66-year-old coach flourished at the high school and college levels. Head coach Erik Spoelstra and assistant coach Juwan Howard of the Miami Heat direct the team against the Philadelphia 76ers during the first half at American Airlines Arena on November 12, 2018 in Miami, Florida.

He reportedly interviewed for the Detroit Pistons coaching job last season, but ultimately signed the extension with MI.

Sweden to reopen rape case against WikiLeaks' Assange

He will be replacing Larry Drew. His college coaching career began in 1978 at Erie Community College, going from there to Nazareth and then Le Moyne.

"He remains a sought-after top assistant on market", Wojnarowski reported.

Donovan's name has already popped up as a possible target for Michigan AD Warde Manuel.

We understand the skepticism, but this is a good move that could wind up looking great if the lottery gods strike again Tuesday night. But despite starting over, and despite untold injuries, Cleveland emerged from a rough season excited about the future.
