Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool should win award for ‘biggest development jump’

Liverpool's 29-year wait for a league title will continue after they had to settle for runners-up spot behind Manchester City despite a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on the final day of the Premier League season.

Meanwhile, Nuno said on Liverpool missing out on the title despite finishing on 97 points and only losing once all term: "It's awesome".

"They have 198 points in two years; that's special".

"They have come again to support us, and we appreciate it".

"Or they will think: 'No we are a great side, we just fell short at the end not through our own doing, but because we came up against a really special team'".

"City got the points they have because we were there".

"If we're ready to make the next step we'll make that next step".

They have an unbelievable squad and an unbelievable manager in Klopp.

Klopp said: "Congratulations to Manchester City".

"Always after a good year we lost key players [in the past] but we won't [this time] so we'll be there again", Klopp added.

"This team is one of the best to have ever played for Liverpool but we play in a league with other very good teams and we have to accept that, no problem".

Retaliation in tariffs dispute
In the middle of the negotiations last week, Trump hiked tariffs on Chinese goods to 25% from 10%. Chinese Vice Premier Liu He talks with U.S.

"We need to be very, very close to perfection to win the Premier League".

That remains somewhat unlikely, but Liverpool will feel compelled to win here, to end the domestic campaign on a high and prove that they didn't fail to win the title because of any kind of bottling - they were simply outperformed by a sensational City side. "We will fight next season for the title".

City can not quite match the record 100 points they mustered last season but they have shown their ability to dig deep in recent weeks.

The Portuguese midfielder joined Wolves last season, with 11 goals in 83 appearances.

It was cruel on Liverpool, who secured 30 wins and 97 points, setting a standard that would have secured the title in any year but the last two, with Pep Guardiola's sensational City amassing 100 points 12 months ago and 98 this term. We were unlucky against City but scored in the last second against Everton and late on against Newcastle - they could have been draws as well.

We will go again.

Liverpool vs. Wolves is being shown live on NBC in the United States, which is available to live stream with FuboTV. From what I saw in the training sessions, they want to win it, knowing that we can lose it.

Thoughts have turned, though, to the summer and Liverpool's transfer business.

"We play in a league with other very good teams".

"If I would start telling you all the positive things about this team we would be here until an hour before the Champions League final".

"We struggled a little bit today, we are human beings and it will be in your head, you can not deny it". We will keep going and then we will see what we get for that.
