One Nation's Steve Dickson resigns over strip club footage

One Nation has lost a star candidate, after video aired of him visiting a strip club in the United States.

The One Nation boss told voters they deserve better after the video of Mr Dickson cavorting with dancers at a Washington DC strip club previous year was aired by Nine Network.

The footage - shot by Al Jazeera in an undercover investigation - shows Dickson referring to once dancer as a "bitch", ordering another woman to touch his genitals and suggesting he has had sexual intercourse with many "Asian chicks" but says white women are better in bed.

The 56-year-old resigned from the party after Nine Network television on Monday night broadcast his antics in the Washington, D.C., club in September that were secretly videoed by Al Jazeera.

Dickson is married with two adult sons.

"I am both a mother of three boys and the only female leader of a political party in this country".

The One Nation leader said she was getting "kicked in the guts time and time again" and was "absolutely sick of it".

He will still appear as One Nation's second Senate candidate for Queensland, but he was unlikely to secure a seat. "And it's quite evident in this election", she told A Current Affair on Tuesday.

She said that it wasn't the fact that Mr Dickson had been to a strip club, because this is something that is legal.

ISIL chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi appears in propaganda video
Almost a week after claiming responsibility for the Sri Lanka terror attack, ISIS chief Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi has released a video. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been rumored dead or severely wounded several times in the past.

It was also a demonstration of Senator Hanson's longstanding incapacity to accept responsibility for the many calamities she has inflicted on her dysfunctional party.

The latest scandal - which follows remarks by another One Nation candidate attacking gay people and women in positions of power - raises further questions about Senator Hanson's candidate vetting process. And people are hoping and praying that I'm going to be the voice for them.

"It is the language and what he said...and I just think it's unacceptable", Pauline told us.

One Nation's popularity has slumped in opinion polling since March, when the party was accused of trying to sell out Australia's strict gun laws.

The recording was captured by an undercover Al Jazeera journalist posing as a gun rights lobbyist and leaked to Nine's A Current Affair.

Earlier, Mr Dickson issued a statement saying he was very upset with himself.

"I found the footage hard to watch as my words and actions under intoxication and in that environment, are not a true reflection of myself", he said.

"I am also deeply remorseful for my disrespectful comments towards women".
