Switch Sales Cool as Nintendo Plots New Models

Switch Sales Cool as Nintendo Plots New Models

The two new Switch consoles were likely to have been revealed at the upcoming E3 2019, but now it looks like that isn't going to happen, at least according to Furukawa, for now.

This news should come as a shock to absolutely no one. Announcements are made beforehand or during the slower months of the year.

Expanding on a rumour they first published past year, The Wall Street Journal now reports that Nintendo is planning on releasing two new models of the Switch, and both may be out in 2019.

Now, just because it doesn't plan to announce new console skus at the event doesn't mean new offerings aren't in the works.

Release windows for the reported skus were provided by The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Nikkei - all respectable financial outlets.

This news surfaces after a report from The Wall Street Journal that stated Nintendo is now working on two new versions of its Switch console that were reportedly to release this summer.

A second pro model is also slated for release some time this year - again, depending upon source. Various government document filings showed Nintendo teaming with Tencent to bring the Switch over, but neither company had commented publicly.

What the sources could say with confidence is that the smaller Switch will be out sometime in June... which, admittedly, would line up nicely with E3 2019 and the company's most-watched Nintendo Direct event.
