If you just can't wait to dig into that big Smash Bros. update, you're going to have to be patient. Those of us who grew up with the N64 remember playing Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie which were two of the best games released on the system. If you miss with the first strike, tilting the analogue stick in the opposite direction gives you a second chance at landing the ultimate. Then out of nowhere, an information dump revolving around Joker and Smash Ultimate's much anticipated "Version 3.0" update dropped! Ultimate available on April 17, which will introduce a new Stage Builder feature, new video editing features and the Smash World service for the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app**. Joker's Rebellion Gauge builds up through taking damage and being behind in the game, but using down special triggers Rebel's Guard and builds it up faster while halving incoming damage and knocking enemies back. Reports are coming in stating that the Final Smash can cause the game to softlock. Moving and spinning platforms are possible along with new elements like portals and the ability to customize using layers. The Video Editor doesn't seem to be a super in-depth tool, but it should allow you flex some creative muscle nonetheless. That's right, even Persona 3 and Persona 4 are getting some love with the new stage, with new music and new Mii Fighter Costumes based on their protagonists, Morgana, as well as the returning Tails and Knuckles costumes from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U (new costumes sold separately). In the Stage Builder, players can use the touch screen or normal controls to create stages using assets from the game in unique, 3D planes that allow objects to be placed in the background and foreground. There are planned expansions to the Edit Video feature in future updates.

All that and the Nintendo Switch Online App has become slightly more useful with the new-and-improved Smash World section. This mode, called Smash World, will let all of the shared content from the game be viewed on the mobile app.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be available for free.
