Windows 10 now automatically recovers from bollixed updates

Microsoft recently shared a Windows support bulletin which deals with the auto-removal of installed updates that are preventing your system from starting.

The new feature is available with version 1.0.20701.0 or newer of the Your Phone app. Surface Go will be the first device in the Surface lineup to preview this feature.

To make sure that customers don't end up jumping ship out of frustration, Microsoft has quietly published a support document detailing that the company can automatically remove the faulty Windows Updates. Without it, you won't be able to connect your Android device to the Windows 10 machine. You may notice improvement 10-15 minutes after installing this update, but we recommend resetting the holograms for best results.

Phone screen mirroring is a feature Microsoft announced back in 2018, and lets users see and interact with their phone directly on their PC.

So, you've spent your life savings on a mammoth rig; everything runs butter-smooth; and bam, you're hit with a crippling Windows 10 update that brings your gaming performance to a crawl. To access it, users will need two pieces of software: the latest Windows 10 Insider build on their Surface Go tablet; and Microsoft's Your Phone app for the Samsung handset.

If a PC fails to start following a Windows 10 update and reboot, users may see a notification that reads: "We removed some recently installed updates to recover your device from a startup failure". So, instead of picking up for phone and interrupting your workflow to check Snapchat or WhatsApp, you can now do it all through an app directly on your device.
