Test of personality as Real Madrid visit Valladolid

Amid speculation that his days are numbered, Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari dished out some of the blame for the team's disastrous season to his players.

Solari is now effectively an "interim manager" after Madrid bosses took the decision to remove him following his side's elimination from the Champions League round-of-16 stage in a 4-1 loss to Ajax on Tuesday.

The report claims Seedorf was added to the board's list of candidates to take charge until the end of the season, with Solari's job seemingly hanging by a thread after a disastrous couple of weeks.

With Solari on borrowed time, the former Madrid president also said that Mourinho is the only choice after Zidane turned down an offer from Florentino Pérez: "Madrid called Zidane but he said no, this is not the moment to go to the club".

"It is an honour to serve this club".

"I give you [the] same answer as my first day here: we are all passing through here, and the most important for any coach, any team, is the next game", the Argentine said after arriving 80 minutes late for his pre-match press conference.

Quit playing! I didn't do this stuff! "I'm fighting for my f-ing life!" he said in another moment from the tense interview. CBS says King also spoke directly to both Savage and Clary and will air conversations with them on Friday morning.

Valladolid have troubles of their own with six points from their last 11 games seeing them sink towards the relegation zone and the club owned by former Real Madrid hero Ronaldo Nazario could decide to sack their coach Sergio Gonzalez in the case of a defeat.

"I will always do my best, as I have done since my first day here". Solari was asked about meeting with his players he said: "Things that happen in private should stay there".

Real Madrid will try to pick up the pieces after one of the toughest weeks in the club's history when they visit Valladolid on Sunday night.

Real Madrid have suffered four defeats in their last five outings, all of which came at home.

"Obviously I am proud when you hear your name in that context, but there's nothing more than that because there has been nothing, not even the minimum contact".
