Germany responds to Trump appeal to take back ISIL fighters from Syria

He suggested the alternative would be that the United States would be forced to release them.

"The US does not want to watch these ISIS fighters permeate Europe, where is where they are expected to go".

"We do so much, and spend so much - Time for others to step up and do the job that they are so capable of doing". Moreover, senior U.S. officials have reportedly warned that the European Union is running out of time to take back the jihadists captured in Syria.

That's right Mark... although ISIS has been pushed back to only a speck of land, AP reports that IS fighters are under the shadow of a small hill along the Syrian-Iraqi border.

There are now more than 800 "foreign terrorist fighters" from around 40 countries who are now being held by the American-backed, Kurdish-dominated Syria Democratic Forces (SDF).

The ISIS members come from 'over 40 countries, ' the Pentagon told CNN earlier this month.

SDF spokesman Adnan Afrin told Agence France-Presse they were surprised to learn how many civilians were still inside.

Any withdrawal would leave Syria's Kurds exposed to a long-threatened attack by neighbouring Turkey, which views Kurdish fighters as "terrorists".

But few European countries have embassies in Syria or Iraq, let alone extradition treaties to get their citizens back.

But these governments have been hesitant to do so because of the limited evidence they have to use in a court of law proving their membership in ISIS. While stating her desire to return to the UK, Begum showed little repentance, saying that she was glad to live under the Sharia law and to have married her husband, an ISIS fighter, there. "That'll be announced over the next 24 hours".

But critics nearly immediately objected to the massive subsidies that NY offered to lure the tech behemoth . In Amazon's announcement on Thursday, the company thanked Governor Cuomo for his support on the project.

That's the update reporters received Saturday from the commander of the USA -backed Syrian Democratic Forces, Jia Furat.

An estimated 5,000 Europeans joined ISIS.

Trump warned that if Europe does not repatriate its citizens, the U.S. will allow them to go.

Since 2015, the government has had the power to bar the return of jihadists under a temporary exclusion order.

Shamima Begum, 19, fled from the United Kingdom to Syria in 2015.

In Syria, it retains a presence in the vast Badia desert, and has claimed deadly attacks in SDF-held territory.

For example, a 19-year-old woman who left Britain to join the Islamic State group and who recently spoke out about wanting to return home has given birth to a boy in a refugee camp in Syria, a lawyer for her family said Sunday. It is not yet clear how Britain could refuse to allow Begun to return, as this would render her stateless. MI6 head Alex Younger warned in Munich that the western jihadists who might return could pose a threat.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid has warned he "will not hesitate" to prevent the return of Britons who had travelled overseas to join Isis.

But others have appealed for mercy, noting Begum's age when she fled.

He said: "Taking responsibility means that we bring them back, we talk to them, we investigate them, and if there are charges that could properly be laid against them then that should be the case and they should be put through the judicial process and punished accordingly".
