Netanyau: Israel anticipating Trump's Mideast 'deal of the century'

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said at a news briefing on Wednesday in Tehran that the two-day Warsaw meeting was "dead on arrival".

The conference was first announced last month by U-S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Prior to leaving for a major meeting in Poland, Netanyahu commented on the Israeli strike on Monday and stressed that Iran is the focus of the Warsaw Mideast summit.

Israel's prime minister, who met the Omani foreign minister on the sidelines on Wednesday, called the conference a "historical turning point" in tackling the threat from Iran. Israel and many Sunni Arab countries, from Egypt and Jordan to the Gulf states of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, all recognize the Iranian regime as their biggest geopolitical threat in the region.

Morawiecki said he will consider the meeting a success if it brings together governments "that do not agree on all things" and if it becomes a "place of open debate and exchange of arguments for peace for the region".

"So.we shouldn't take this to mean Bibi is sitting with foreign ministers of Arab states and drawing up plans to attack Iran", Shushan concluded.

Wednesday's conference is co-hosted by the USA and Poland and its official focus is Mideast peace and security.

He refrained from directly criticising Iran, instead including it in a list of regional challenges ranging from Syria and Yemen to Palestinian-Israeli peace.

US Vice-President Mike Pence has demanded that Europe withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal and lashed out at the EU's efforts to evade Washington's sanctions on Tehran. US officials have stressed that the session covers a range of topics, including the humanitarian crises in Syria and Yemen. Prince Turki said Netanyahu is no doubt doing so in order to make himself look good ahead of the upcoming election in Israel: "He's a man who runs for election on platforms of 'look what I have done for you".

A participant at the dinner said that the Israelis have carried out more than 200 aerial operations to stop the Iranians in Syria. The Ayatollah Khamenei himself has said, "It is the mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to erase Israel from the map of the region"'.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said the only path to peace was by negotiating with the Palestinian leadership represented by Abbas. Jared Kushner, Trump's adviser and son-in-law, attended the session with Pence and was scheduled to give a talk on the "deal of a century" peace plan he has been working on for nearly two years.

A furious Mr Trump has threatened stiff fines and penalties against any country that breaks the sanction he re-imposed on Iran past year after America controversially pulled out of the worldwide agreement.

Vice President Pence and Netanyahu also will meet on the sidelines of the session Thursday, and they plan to tour a memorial to the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto uprising.

The summit appears to be the first time an Israeli leader and senior Arab officials attended an global gathering centered on the Middle East since the 1991 Madrid peace conference, which set the stage for the landmark Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestinians.

As The Daily Wire has previously reported, Oman has played an outsized role in Netanyahu's post-Iran nuclear deal diplomatic outreach efforts with the Arab world.
