Usher and Rich the Kid targeted in West Hollywood armed robbery

Calls came in at around 3:15 p.m. reporting shots fired in the area of Santa Monica Boulevard at Greenacre Avenue, the Sheriff's Department said. Rich the Kid, who appeared to be the target of the robbery, was outside during the attack.

Witnesses told TMZ that as many as 10 shots were fired outside the Westlake Recording Studio on Tuesday afternoon. A rep for Rich the Kid revealed that he was doing okay after the incident, while one of his bodyguards was badly pistol-whipped.

It remains unclear if anyone was hit when the suspect opened fire.

Police have no suspects and are still investigation what transpired outside of the swank studio in West Hollywood.

Hours before the attack, Rich posted a picture of himself holding a stack of cash standing in front of a Lamborghini with the caption "For motivational purposes only".

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported on the robbery, though the report did not name the victims. Usher, PEOPLE confirms, was working on his own music and was not recording with Rich the Kid.

Sources claim the suspect could have made off with cash and jewelry from the raid. They were reportedly carrying guns.

Other famous musicians such as Quincy Jones, Billy Idol, Missy Elliot, Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Marilyn Manson have also recorded music at the location.
