Manchester City stun Chelsea with four in first half

The ska song is a Stamford Bridge anthem that Chelsea play after big victories and it seemed to be a deliberate choice to wind up the beaten Londoners.

Sergio Aguero equalled the record for Premier League hat-tricks as a rampant Manchester City thrashed Chelsea 6-0 at home to leapfrog Liverpool and return to the table's summit.

Goal difference might yet decide the title and, in thrashing Chelsea, City gave themselves an ever larger advantage over Liverpool.

Manchester City's huge win helped propel them back above their main title rivals Liverpool, as Sergio Aguero's hat-trick, a Raheem Sterling brace and Ilkay Gündogan's long-range effort humbled the Stamford Bridge club. We started well but after four minutes we conceded a goal in a stupid way.

"I don't know. You have to ask the club".

Silverware could still be collected in two weeks.

With a fortnight until Sarri is set to lead Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final, against Manchester City at Wembley, questions are being asked of the Italian, who joined in the summer, and whether he should remain in charge. He has grabbed games by the scruff of the neck and has been a champion player.

"Incredible week, incredible game", said manager Pep Guardiola.

One of the horses, Raise A Spark, ran at Ayr races on Wednesday and had shown no symptoms of the highly contagious virus beforehand.

"We're so pleased for this week not just today, but Arsenal and Everton", Guardiola said. "After that we worked, moved forward".

Eden Hazard went to sleep from Kevin de Bruyne's quickly taken free-kick and Bernardo Silva had acres of space to cross for the England worldwide to fire home. AGUERO received a golden opportunity to extend City's 1-0 advantage against Chelsea but from close range, missed. "But, after, his reaction was a little bit better".

In all competitions, Aguero already holds the record for the most goals in City's history with 222 goals since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011, while Brook managed 177.

"Out of nothing", Sterling said, "he can put the ball in the top corner and players like this, you have got to cherish".

Aguero was substituted on 64 minutes with Gabriel Jesus coming on. Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley inexplicably headed a clearance back toward danger and Aguero pounced by shooting on the turn.

Sunday proved to be a good day for both Manchester clubs, then, but City were not out to do United any favours.

It was third-placed Tottenham's fourth successive league win without injured top-scorer Harry Kane. Abramovich demands Champions League football, and Sarri is increasingly in danger of failing to deliver a top-four finish.

Jamie Vardy, having been dropped from the starting lineup, was summoned from the bench only to miss the spot kick with his first touch. "The first four chances, we had scored three", he said.
