Raptors trade Valanciunas to Grizzlies for Gasol in 4-player deal

News of the Toronto Raptors' shocking trade of star centre Jonas Valančiūnas to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Marc Gasol has basketball fans stunned as they try to come to terms with the loss of the beloved player.

The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly decided on a trade featuring All-Star big man Marc Gasol.

Gasol, the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year, is averaging 15.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists through 53 games this season.

Gasol also has a $25.6 million player option for next season.

With only 26 regular season games remaining, the Toronto Raptors own a 40-16 record and trail only the Milwaukee Bucks for the Eastern Conference's top seed. Gasol has two years left on the five-year, $113-million deal he signed with the Grizzlies in 2015.
