Mark Stoops' brother headed to the XFL

Stoops will serve as head coach and general manager for the still unnamed, Dallas-based XFL team. Teams are more open than ever to search for unique and innovative coaching talent, and the XFL will provide at least one more avenue to showcase different football styles and strategies. It's believed that TV deals are close to being finalized and they recently announced Jeffrey Pollack as the President & CEO.

The original XFL was disbanded following its inaugural season in 2001.

Stoops is a good friend of Jim Ross" which isn't that big of a surprise considering how big of a Boomer Sooner fan Good "ole JR is. "You can only do so much golf in this period", Stoops said. "I have a lot of respect for him and when he talks I listen". I anticipate it being that way and want it to be.

Stoops retired as the Oklahoma head coach in June 2017 after 18 seasons. But that's not necessarily a negative, he explained. There isn't any recruiting time in there. But given the current climate and the toll certain controversies have taken in recent years, perhaps the time is right for a new football league to try and compete alongside the NFL. "So I'm excited about the opportunity". "Bob's achievements at Oklahoma are legendary, and he's the flawless person to lead our team in Dallas".
