Gueye pleads with Everton to sell him to PSG

A quiet day with no incoming players is expected at Finch Farm today while Idrissa Gueye's dream of joining Paris St Germain looks likely to go unrealised unless Everton agree a fee for the midfielder's sale.

The Senegal worldwide is a rumoured £21.5m target for the French champions after starring for the Toffees across his three years at Goodison Park.

Marco Silva's team have insisted that the midfielder is not for sale, but it is understood that PSG will increase their bid in the coming days.

The French champions are chasing midfield reinforcements this month with several injury problems and contractual issues leaving them short in the middle of the park.

'When one club like PSG comes for one player, normally he will start to think on his future also, but now he has stopped (thinking about that).

Gueye has continued to push for a move but his entourage believe if PSG do not put in an offer around the €35m mark, Everton will not sell.

Silva said: "From the feedback I had with the board, they never told me the deal will be done or not, they didn't tell me it was close, and they never told me we need to prepare to replace Gana".

"He really likes our club, he is enjoying playing in our club".

Gueye left Aston Villa for Merseyside in 2016 following the Birmingham-based club's relegation to the Championship. "Of course after some moments it can become a matter of money, but from my point of view he is a really important player for us", Silva is quoted by the press as saying on Sunday. Silva told the press ahead of his sides Premier League clash away to Huddersfield.
