Dead, 2 Hospitalized After Small Plane Crashes Into Backyard in Yorba Linda

It happened on Sunday afternoon in a residential area of Yorba Linda, which is southwest of Los Angeles.

The number of people in the plane are unknown.

A small plane has crashed in a neighborhood in Southern California, setting a home on fire and killing at least two people, officials and witnesses say. The two who suffered injuries were transported to a local hospital, authorities said.

The Cessna aircraft took off from Fullerton Municipal Airport in Orange County, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The crash occurred in Yorba Linda, the Orange County Fire Authority said on Twitter.

Twitter user Joshua Nelson wrote, "A few houses down [from the crash] the propeller and engine landed in their yard".

Earlier reports suggested two homes had become engulfed in flames after the incident.

In a video from the crash scene which was shot at about 3pm, one of the residences can be seen having been destroyed by the fire. He said both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate.
