Vivo reveals Apex 2019 portless, buttonless concept phone

Part of this glass also serves as a set of three pressure-sensitive capacitive buttons - think HTC U12+ but with glass instead of metal - along the right hand side, and these will presumably be mapped for toggling power and volume. It has full screen fingerprint technology that allows users to unlock the phone by placing your finger nearly anywhere in the display. For charging, Vivo then replaced the Type-C USB port with a magnetic connector.

Under the hood, Vivo Apex 2019 is equipped with a great hardware: Snapdragon 855 CPU, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of non-expandable storage.

Basically, you'll be able to touch anywhere on the screen to unlock the device, and Vivo is relying on a Fingerprint Light feature to light up the area around your finger to get a detailed fingerprint image. The screen features a near full-screen under-screen fingerprint reader and "body soundcasting" which uses the screen as a speaker.

Vivo announced the Apex 2019 at a press conference in Beijing, and it's safe to say that the phone is unlike any other in the market today.

If you thought that 2019 will go by under the auspices of hole-in-display designs (cough, Galaxy S10, cough) or foldable phone, you are sorely mistaken.

With the goal of enhanced usability and simplicity at the core, APEX 2019 offers consumers a glimpse into the future of smartphone design and development.

So now we know there are no benefits to the Apex 2019's new design.

The new Apex features a super unibody curved glass design and comes with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display.
The mirror-like finish on the back panel makes the Vivo APEX 2019 look stunning. In practice, the motherboard has a "double face" that has allowed Vivo not to have to use any additional module to make possible the coupling of the new generation network.

APEX 2019 will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona at the end of February and visitors to the event will have the opportunity to enjoy a first-hand viewing. Recently, Vivo launched Nex Dual Display Edition smartphone in its home country. Vivo is devoted to forming a vibrant mobile internet ecosystem, and now owns and operates an extensive network of research operations, with R&D centers in the US (San Diego) and China (Dongguan, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Beijing and Hangzhou).
