Victor Oladipo Knee Injury Ruins Pacers' Chances to Make NBA Finals

After learning the All-Star guard faces season-ending surgery for a ruptured quad tendon in his right knee, Oladipo's teammates quickly banded together in hopes of surprising the National Basketball Association again.

Oladipo suffered the injury with 4:05 remaining in the second quarter when he tried to chase down a pass from Kyle Lowry to Pascal Siakam in transition.

It was an ugly scene in the first half of the Indiana Pacers' game against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.

The team confirmed he suffered a serious injury to his right knee and that an MRI was scheduled for Thursday.

"I have to be a leader each and every day, and that's what I'm going to try to do", he said.

IN now holds the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference but the Pacers face a more challenging second half of the season. It was clear, though, that the injury was going to overshadow the rest of the game - if not Indiana's season.

A spokeswoman for Piper said: "Once notified, Piper Aircraft will assist the local and USA government agencies as required". Police said on Tuesday more than 1,000sq miles had been searched by five aircraft and two lifeboats.

The Indiana Pacers may have lost Victor Oladipo for the season. "We've got to lift him now".

Pacers were 0-7 in games without Oladipo on the floor. The Pacers immediately feared a season-ending injury, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, and news came down on Thursday afternoon that Oladipo had ruptured the quad tendon in his right knee. Oladipo gave the thumbs up to fans as he was taken to the locker room. In addition, the Pacers intend to promote Edmond Sumner from the G League to the playing roster.

Oladipo made his first All-Star Game last season after the Pacers acquired him from the Oklahoma City Thunder in the blockbuster Paul George trade.

"We'll be there to support him", said guard Cory Joseph. Tonight he knew that we needed a lift from someone.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. "We will talk about where we go from here".
