A Google Assistant microwave? Why not says Google in new device initiative

A Google Assistant microwave? Why not says Google in new device initiative

On Monday, Google announced in a blog post that Google Assistant users grew four times over the past year. That's pretty impressive, but of course, Google has Android to thank for this achievement. Rather than including support for Amazon and Google's voice-controlled assistants in its TVs, Samsung is adding support for existing devices.

Beyond navigation tasks, having Google Assistant handy means you can ask it to respond to texts, play a podcast or song, or send your ETA.

The next Samsung televisions will enable voice control through your existing Amazon Echo and Google Home smart speakers.

Whilst Google Assistant and Apple's Siri may be on lots more devices, Alexa is way ahead in terms of their smart speakers, these are devices that people buy for the virtual assistant. The executive wants to get as many devices to use Alexa as possible, and he wants those devices to do as much as possible. This total includes all devices that have Alexa built-in, and Amazon has opted not to reveal individual device sale data.

Wayne Rooney arrested for public swearing, intoxication at Virginia airport
United star Wayne Rooney was arrested in December, authorities say. "We have no further comment at this time". He also received a two-year driving ban and was docked two weeks' wages - around $380,000 - by Everton.

Google Assistant is now integrated with Google Maps, allow users to navigate to work, share an ETA with friends, search for locations along your route, add a new stop, and more-all with their voice. Google is to continue its push of getting Google Assistant on to even more devices with the announcement of a new initiative it is calling Google Assistant Connect.

Exactly what this means is now unclear, will they get "deep link access" to the features and functions in some Google apps? "From day one, we've built the Assistant with one goal in mind: to help you get things done". These TVs (with a few exceptions) all feature far-field microphones in the remotes, so that you can talk to the Google Assistant without needing to turn down the TV or your music in the room.

If not for the fact that it comes preinstalled on Samsung's newest phones, Bixby would have probably ended up a desolated service.
