TV Ellen DeGeneres Facing Criticism For Saying Kevin Hart Should Host Oscars

Some of his now-deleted homophobic tweets were posted in 2011, according to BuzzFeed News.

During Hart's appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday, the host repeatedly referred to the comedian as a friend and praised him as "one of the most generous people that I've ever met". It is airing in the U.S. on Friday on NBC at 15:00 GMT.

Others chose to just hate on Ellen or make it clear they no longer support her. So I called them and said 'Kevin's on.

During his interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Hart told DeGeneres, "I have made several mistakes, and I embrace them all. I'm not that guy".

He added: "Either my apology is accepted or it isn't".

"Hi Ellen, I think you're a cool lady".

"There is no flawless bone in my body".

In this conversation, @KevinHart4real was authentic and real, and I'm in his corner.

In the clips, Hart said he recognized that his comments on Twitter were unsafe and said he had apologized and grown in the 10 years since he made them. "So I don't know the flawless individual that society is now looking for - it's not me", Kevin told Ellen. "This is stuff I've addressed, I've talked about this", he says.

"And I believe in Ellen", another social media user tweeted. Ellen said was the Academy's response. "I think you're great and you should host the Oscars!".

He tweeted after he found out that actor Dwayne L. Brown had pictures of him on his phone: "What r u some type of FAT FAG that takes pics of small black men all day?"

New Democratic congresswoman Rashida Tlaib makes profane vow about Trump
"Today, we return to that same airport on the eve of my swearing in as the first Somali-American in Congresss". The op-ed was called, "Now is the time to begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump ".

At the time, Hart also uploaded a video on Instagram in which he explained that the Academy demanded a public apology for his homophobic tweets, a public apology Hart initially didn't believe was necessary due to him addressing the controversy in the past.

DeGeneres supported Hart throughout their discussion, telling him: "Don't let those people win". If the Academy went that route, the show might come in at under three-and-a-half hours - and that's an idea we can all get behind. To go through 40,000 tweets to get to 2008...that's a malicious attack on my character... "That's not an attack to just stop the Oscars ..."

Meghan McCain says it's Hart's apology that "hasn't really come up to snuff yet".

"You have grown. You have apologised".

He previously apologized for the tweets, and did so again in December. Meanwhile the Oscar nominations will be announced on January 22, 2019.

When the Jumanji 2 star was announced as the host for the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony, the news brought fierce backlash from LGBT fans and allies.

The magazine has also called hosting the Oscars "the least wanted job in Hollywood". I've said who I am now vs who I was then. Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Jerry Seinfeld.

But if that doesn't work out, may we suggest Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as hosts?

This latest controversy comes after a hard few years for the academy that have seen Envelopegate, the OscarsSoWhite campaign and the scrapping of a proposed popular film award category.

The 91st Academy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on Sunday February 24, which will be Monday morning (February 25) in India.
