Sarri hints he wants Chelsea to sign striker after Southampton stalemate

Chelsea started struggling striker Alvaro Morata up front in hopes of the Spain worldwide rediscovering his goal-scoring form but debutant Saints' goalkeeper Angus Gunn was the star in an otherwise lacklustre Premier League encounter.

Such a poor run in front of goal has seen them slip out of the title race, and with just two wins from their last four matches they are now at risk of failing to qualify for next season's Champions League by virtue of a top-four finish. "I think we need something different for characteristics", said Sarri.

"I think we played a very good match for the first 80 metres of the pitch, then we were in trouble for the last 20 metres", said Sarri.

And the 27-year-old says he couldn't pass up the opportunity to reunite with his former manager.

"I think he has already changed a lot". We have to try to solve the problem.
