Virat Kohli & Co eye series win

India have reversed their decision to rule spinner Ravichandran Ashwin out of their squad for the fourth Test against Australia, while pace bowler Ishant Sharma was also mysteriously omitted.

They may not be facing the toughest of Australian teams but this series could have gone the other way too.

"It's unfortunate that he's had two niggles that are quite similar in the last couple of away tours".

The captain said he wanted a final look at the wicket before selecting the team, adding that conditions at the Sydney Cricket Ground would determine which members of the 14-man squad were left on the sidelines.

"He's very important for sure".

Indian officials had earlier told reporters Ashwin had not recovered from an abdominal strain that has kept him out of the last two Tests, and skipper Virat Kohli had lamented the offspinner's absence, saying he was "very disappointed" to miss the final match of the series.

Umesh Yadav, who was dropped for the Melbourne Test, was back in the thirteen that included Mohammed Shami. Cheteshwar Pujara's average is the highest among all and he was the only batsman to score 50-plus runs in each of India's four away Test wins previous year.

Steelers Mike Tomlin Says Antonio Brown Has Not Requested a Trade
The drama intensified with Brown being designated as questionable on Friday's injury report before being ruled out for Sunday. We'll see how things shake out in the weeks and months to come, but the 49ers appear to be Brown's preferred destination.

Additionally, this 13-man shortlist can also be seen as a ploy to keep Australia guessing, for the hosts made a departure from norm and decided not to name their playing eleven for the first time in this series.

"We know how good a cricketer he is, he's really skilled in all facets of the game", Paine said.

While they need at least a draw in Sydney to win the series outright, India will retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy irrespective of the result.

Nonetheless, in 2004-05, Australia were a class apart as they conquered one of the toughest challenges in world cricket - beat India in India and ended a 34-year-long drought for a series win in the Asian nation.

When is Australia vs India taking place? .

It's likely there'll be a reshuffle of the faltering top order, with Usman Khawaja tipped to move up to open the innings, and Marnus Labuschagne a contender for a call up as a backup spinning option on a wicket expected to favor spin as it deteriorates. Judging by Kohli's words in the press conference, part time spinner Hanuma Vihari in all probability will pair up alongside Jadeja in the final XI while chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav might just have to end the test series without even a single appearance.

Australia (from): Tim Paine (captain), Marcus Harris, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Travis Head, Aaron Finch, Marnus Labuschagne, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood, Peter Handscomb, Mitch Marsh, Peter Siddle.
