Netflix Asking People To Stop Doing The ‘Bird Box Challenge’

While Bird Box attracted a lot of A Quiet Place comparisons, the popular post-apocalyptic thriller also sparked a weird viral challenge.

Netflix caught wind of the Bird Box challenge and issued a message to all users thinking of trying it, telling them to "not hurt themselves".

Netflix has provided the movie industry with an unprecedented peek at how a newly released film is faring as competition for Hollywood's biggest names intensifies. As might be expected, there's plenty of potential for viewers to get hurt while wandering around with a blindfold on, something that Netflix is cautioning fans of the movie who are attempting to do the #BirdBoxChallenge.

While it might be a cool experience to walk around blindfolded, DON'T do this at home, in your auto, or at the mall.

The so-called "Bird Box" challenge involves people performing everyday tasks while blindfolded and posting videos of the results online, People reported. People are even doing 24-hour challenges and documenting it all.

Alan Stern of the Southwest Research Institute said, "I don't know about you, but I'm really liking this 2019 thing so far". Still, he said, when all the data comes in, "there are going to be mysteries of Ultima Thule that we can't figure out".

In the above video, a group was walking together around the streets of New York City blindfolded.

Most of the videos end up with people crashing or falling. Sandra Bullock's character and the two kids she's attempting to save are just the next big thing in dressing up like beloved pop culture.

2019 just started, and it's a hot mess already.
