Sky Sports pundit suggests Man United could sell duo

Manchester United gave Jose Mourinho the boot earlier this month following another lacklustre display at Anfield as Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners.

Despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's strong start to life in the United hot seat, the club will still press on with their plans to appoint a new position above the manager in either a director of football or technical director role.

United still face a huge challenge to make up an eight-point gap just to qualify for next season's Champions League via a top-four finish.

The Red Devils sacked Jose Mourinho last week after making their worst start to a season in 28 years, with club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking over as caretaker boss until the end of the campaign.

"It's not easy, I don't think it will be easy, but I'm looking forward to it and I think the boys are looking forward to playing at Old Trafford".

United seem to have found the ideal man to navigate them through the rest of the season as they look for Mourinho's permanent replacement. He said we need to play more forward, to be more risky in attack, to run more [and] to compete with everything.

"That's the only game they're looking at in the Champions League".

David de Gea could do nothing about Cardiff's goal from the penalty spot and Luke Shaw's marauding performance from left back was so good that both of those players will expect to play again here.

Solskjaer instead seems intent on implementing the United way he learned at the heel of Ferguson for so long.

The report also claims that some of the squad celebrated Mourinho's departure having fallen out with the manager.
