Although carriers in the USA and overseas are planning to light up their first commercial 5G coverage in 2019, it'll be some time before anywhere close to a significant percentage of the population have access to a 5G signal. It will be packing a Snapdragon X50 modem for 5G connectivity in addition to gigabit LTE when it lands in 2019.

Snapdragon 855's three performance cores clocked at 2.42GHz will be activated when a heavy app is launched in order to main fluidity. Because of this change, Qualcomm has taken to referring to the Spectra 380 as the world's first computer vision image signal processor. The technology promises to deliver fiber-optic-like speeds to wireless devices with imperceptible transmission delays.

Although it should be noted more waves and bands supported means the device will have an easier time overseas.

An exact release date wasn't confirmed, but the company has unveiled a new partnership with United Kingdom network EE to bring the unspecified phone to the United Kingdom at some point in 2019. Device makers who want to add 5G capability can then pair the Snapdragon with a 5G modem to enable 5G speeds. However it seems we won't have long to wait.

Days after Verizon pulled back the curtain on its 5G Samsung phone, AT&T said it's working with the Korean phone manufacturer on a phone for the second half of 2019.

Meet the chip that will power some of the most important Android phones of 2019, including OnePlus's first 5G handset and probably the Galaxy S10.
