Wayne Rooney: End of Manchester United career was 'embarrassing'

"We were wide open and, if we do that on Sunday, we will lose", said England manager Southgate.

US goalkeeper Brad Guzan said he didn't think twice about denying Wayne Rooney a fairytale goal on his 120th and final England appearance at Wembley on Thursday. But Rooney was denied what would have been an extremely popular goal by visiting goalkeeper Brad Guzan in injury time.

"There are times when you doubt yourself as a player, and think: 'Am I good enough?' he said".

'We had a really inexperienced team out there again, so they've come through and learned a lot, and we've paid our respects to one of our greatest ever players.

Wayne Rooney is now the record goalscorer for England and Manchester United with 53 and 253 strikes respectively but believes Kane will trump his worldwide tally which is why he chose the Spurs striker to present him with the trophy.

Rooney received a warm reception before and after coming on for his 120th appearance for England, who prepared for Sunday's crunch Nations League clash with Croatia by beating the United States of America 3-0 thanks to goals from Jesse Lingard, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Wilson.

'He has been brilliant I have to say. "We haven't had that discussion because of his parade, but we'll be making that point".

Roy Clark, country guitar virtuoso, ‘Hee Haw’ star, has died
In 1960, he fronted Wanda Jackson's band, and two years later he landed his first label contract, with Capitol Records . The country music and comedy show's last new episode aired in 1993, though reruns continued for a few years thereafter.

The 33-year-old is now playing for DC United in MLS, where he says he will end his career, as well as taking his coaching badges.

'We got him to present the three new caps with their shirt and he talked about what playing for England had meant to him, what this first game meant and what it should mean to them.

The 20-year-old has not been at the top of his game for the Reds this season, so this was a chance for him to gain some confidence.

Rooney retired from England duty in August, 2017 but the FA made a decision to turn the friendly into a tribute game for the Liverpool-born player. We gave Wayne a week that he deserved.

'It's shown the quality that Croatia have, ' Southgate added. "Some young players went in and gave a really good account of themselves".

"We've had some exciting games already and Sunday now becomes a really big game for everyone to look forward to".
