Early Rumors On The Bryce Harper Market

Early Rumors On The Bryce Harper Market

Major League Baseball teams had five days to negotiate with their own free agents following the end of the World Series.

One team USA Today reported would be in the mix with the Phillies is the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Harper in the middle of that lineup could certainly help the team break its three-year playoff drought.

Bryce Harper may have rejected a 10-year, $300 million deal from the Washington Nationals on the final day of the regular season, but that doesn't necessarily mean his tenure with the club is over. The deal did not include a no-trade clause, per the same report.

"You have an iconic player, " Boras said.

Regrexit? British Voters would Now Back Staying in the EU
This could give mainland Britain some scope to set trade rules while keeping the province of Northern Ireland aligned with the EU. Meanwhile, a Survation poll of 20,000 people for Channel 4 estimated Remain would win another in/out referendum by 54%-46%.

Without casting doubt on any of these reports, it's important to remember how quickly things can change in free-agency, especially as we approach the Winter Meetings, which will begin on December 9 in Harper's hometown of Las Vegas. The Nationals wanted to lock up their star, but Harper felt $30 million per year for the next decade wasn't enough money.

The richest sports contract in history belongs to boxer Canelo Alvarez, who signed a five-year, 11-fight deal with streaming platform DAZN worth a minimum of $365 million in October. Nightengale says that Harper is seeking a 13-year deal that tops the average annual value of $34.42 million that Zack Greinke now has in his deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks. It will cost them roughly $13 million.

However, it is becoming more and more clear that the Yankees intend to pass on Harper. "He has done a lot in the game already, and he is just scratching the surface".

The 26-year-old outfielder posted the second-worst batting average of his career last season at.249, but he also walked a career-high 130 times while hitting 34 homers and driving in 100 runs. Bryce Harper is arguably the best player on the market.
