Granit Xhaka makes bold Arsenal claim

Unai Emery is making his mark at the Premier League heavyweights having taken the reins in the summer.

So what's missing? Apathy, for one.

"It gives me confidence to play in big games like Saturday", he said.

"The fact Arsenal are so delighted with a 1-1 draw at home shows the respect everyone has for them".

James Milner's third goal of the season and his first one from open play since March 2016 was enough for Liverpool to earn a point away to Arsenal. Liverpool dropped to the third position (behind Chelsea on goal difference), whereas Arsenal dropped to the fifth spot, six points adrift of the leaders Manchester City.

However it was Arsenal who grabbed the second goal of the game, with Lacazette curling a brilliant shot past Alisson after the Brazilian came off the line. Maybe it was because disillusionment with longtime former manager Arsene Wenger, but fans seemed decidedly neutral towards a player who scored more than 20 goals a season at Lyon. "Now we need to try to do even better".

Manchester United will take belief into Juventus game, says Chris Smalling
United fought back through Anthony Martial after he was smartly found by Alexis Sanchez just before the break. Asked about his team talk at half-time, Mourinho continued: "I started off positive".

"It's nice because he is happy to learn and we always have fun together".

So how has Emery inspired such a swift turnaround from the malaise of recent seasons?

Alexandre Lacazette - 7 - Had the first chance of the match, getting onto the end of Kolasinac's cross but his touch on the ball was slightly too faint at the front post. Torreira, however, is a hugely important addition.

The Switzerland worldwide has been a regular fixture in the Arsenal first team this season since Emery's appointment as Arsene Wenger's successor at the Emirates back in May. However the 26-year-old has yet to sign an extension, with his current contract due to expire in 2021.

"He's a player with great quality with a very positive and determined attitude". Shkodran Mustafi was impressive against Roberto Firmino, Granit Xhaka looked like a disciplined performer and Hector Bellerin has added defensive discipline to his game under Emery's guidance. And all of the above is down to one man: Emery.

Would the 12-match unbeaten run Arsenal took into this game be exposed as a false dawn?
