Oprah door-knocks for Democratic candidate in Georgia

Pence supported Kemp's bid for Governor during the GOP primary runoff and attended a rally in Macon in July. Oprah Winfrey is in Georgia today, too, knocking on doors and giving a speech to support Democrat Stacey Abrams, who is in a remarkably tight race for governor.

The two campaigns agreed in September to debate.

Kemp is a staunch conservative who has embraced U.S. President Donald Trump and the administration's hard-line on immigration. The debate between Kemp and Abrams was originally scheduled for 5 p.m. that same day.

Oprah's message came as she delivered a rousing speech in the Republican-leaning suburbs of Atlanta. "You are disrespecting and disregarding their legacy, their suffering and their dreams, when you don't vote".

Vice President Mike Pence mocked the Hollywood liberals who were campaigning for the Democratic candidate in the Georgia gubernatorial race.

"Take a look at her past, take a look at her history, take a look at what she wants to do and what she has in mind for the state". That's exactly where the polls and observers in Georgia see things going for Kemp and Abrams.

She said Abrams keeps "standing strong for the values that matter to me and the values that matter to Georgians all over this state", and added that "if you're woke just a little bit, you know everyone is not treated equally". Abrams' campaign has called on him to resign, while he has said that it is a manufactured problem at a time when registration is at a record high. "She cares about medicaid expansion, keeping families together", she said.

"She goes, 'I only back candidates that I feel inspired by and that are authentic.' And notice who she didn't campaign for is Hillary Clinton", Watters said.

Polls suggest Abrams and Kemp are deadlocked in one of the hottest matchups of the midterm elections.

"Stacey Abrams is being bankrolled by Hollywood liberals", Pence said, after drawing boos when he mentioned that "Oprah is in town" and noted that actor Will Ferrell was recently in the state for Democrats. In January, when she gave a speech at the Golden Globe Awards, it ignited speculation that she too may be looking to run for president in 2020.
