Manchester United vs. Everton - Football Match Report

United drew a line under their Champions League defeat to Juventus in midweek as goals from Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial secured a 2-1 win against Everton at Old Trafford.

Pogba was involved in both United goals on Sunday, later teeing up Anthony Martial to hit what ultimately proved the victor. He scored the rebound to spare his own blushes.

"Paul wants to take and that for me is fantastic".

Sigurdsson made no mistake with an assured penalty and Silva played the remainder of his cards by throwing Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin on for Gueye and the disappointing Walcott.

"The thing I like is the desire to take it", said Mourinho. "I am doing my best to help the team".

"But for me the most important thing is next time we have a penalty he wants to go again".

Pickford claimed he had telegraphed exactly what Pogba was planning and the Frenchman is ready to tinker with his style in future after also missing at Burnley earlier in the season.

Speaking about Pogba to Sky Italia, Nedved said he it would be wonderful if they could have the World Cup victor in their squad. 'I always try and destabilise the keeper, maybe they know how I take penalties, maybe I should practise to change it, if the keepers know my step'.

United were somewhat lucky to get the penalty to begin with.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the move to revoke visas was just a first step. The president said the crown prince "strongly said he had nothing to do with it".

The theme of the build-up to the match from Everton's perspective had been Marco Silva's assertion that he would take his side to Manchester looking to beat the erratic Red Devils and that showed in a decent opening during which they forced the first save the contest.

"It is clear it was a dive".

"Let's be honest, or [get to the heart] of it, which I think is fair, and say when a player plays bad it's half me and half the player, and when the player plays well it's half me and half the player".

Mourinho, though, heaped praise on Martial.

Nedved also said the club will be alert in the transfer window, but insisted that as Pogba is at Manchester United, there is little point discussing a swoop. 'At the moment he is playing very well.

"I might practice to change because the keeper starts to know what I am going to do". Some teams with three chances they score three goals and some teams without the ball can resist and keep clean sheets all the time. You can not score every time you play, there are matches where you are not going to score. I think he can.

A United free kick following a foul by Zouma on Rashford led to a cross from the left by Martial that saw a Mata header comfortably dealt with by Pickford.

Mourinho said: 'He has the same natural talents he had one or two years ago but he is improving.
