Cancelling Saudi Arabia arms deal would cost $1 billion: Trudeau

In New York, Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law and a White House adviser, said in a television interview Monday that he has advised Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to be "fully transparent" about the Khashoggi case. But Saudi officials have so far refused to answer questions about what happened to Khashoggi's remains, fueling already widespread condemnation of the killing.

"We strongly demand and expect that Canadian exports are used in a way that fully respects human rights", Trudeau said in Parliament.

Perincek, the leader of the Patriotic Party in Turkey, told Sputnik, "Reliable sources from the Istanbul security service told me that the body of Khashoggi was found in a well, which is located in a garden in the residence of the Saudi consul general".

Three weeks after Khashoggi disappeared, the USA and European security agencies still have an incomplete picture of what happened at the consulate.

Khashoggi, a dissident who lived in self-imposed exile in the United States where he contributed to The Washington Post, vanished after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

Mr Erdogan said Riyadh's suggestion it was a rogue operation "will not satisfy us" and said there should be no diplomatic immunity for his killers.

Saudi Arabia only confirmed the killing more than two weeks after the event.

He did not mention Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who some U.S. politicians have speculated ordered the murder - but did speak of Saudi King Salman's "sincerity" in the inquiry so far.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called Khashoggi's youngest son.

A major Saudi business conference opened in Riyadh on Tuesday morning, with the Future Investment Initiative (FII) overshadowed by the death of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi inside the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.

The absolute monarchy is a longtime US ally and considered a bulwark against Iran, but the crisis over Khashoggi's death has helped crystallize growing unease about the crown prince, the country's de facto ruler.

He declined to say whether he had seen any intelligence that linked the Saudi crown prince to the killing. Despite a joint Turkish-Saudi investigation, the two countries' leadership and officials speaking with the press are spewing divergent details.

The Turkish president didn't mention the audio recording that Turkish media said had recorded Khashoggi's murder.

The Khashoggi case has fanned the flames of a dispute between Saudi Arabia and Canada, which escalated to new levels after Riyadh abruptly cut ties with Ottawa over its criticism of the Saudi crackdown on dissent.

Turkish investigators have released some information, saying the writer was tricked into going to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2, where a 15-man hit team was waiting for him.

Erdogan also called on Saudi King Salman "to do what it takes because the crime has taken place in Istanbul and we need to know".

Erdogan said that the murder was "planned" days in advance according to a "roadmap" set up by a Saudi team who were sent to Istanbul for the goal.

Turkish President Tayipp Erdogan is shedding light on his government's probe into the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Turkey's foreign minister has said the country would co-operate with global bodies if they were to launch an independent probe into the Khashoggi's killing.
